Manchester United Offered Opportunity To Sign La Liga Striker Alexander Sorloth: Should Michael Carrick Make A Move?

In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Manchester United have been given the chance to sign Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth this summer. It is understood that the Norway international has emerged as a possible option for the Red Devils in the current transfer window.

Sorloth enjoyed an impressive season at the Spanish club, delivering a series of productive performances in the attacking third. The 30-year-old scored 20 goals and registered one assist in 54 appearances for Real Sociedad last season across all competitions.

The Norwegian forward is currently regarded as one of the most talented attackers in La Liga. Therefore, the Red Devils would do well to try and bring him to Old Trafford before the end of this month.

His existing contract at the Wanda Metropolitano runs until the summer of 2028, which could make it difficult for Manchester United to sign him for a low fee in this transfer period.

Alexander Sorloth of Norway was in action during the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 match between Brazil and Norway at New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on 05 July 2026.

Sorloth is effective at creating a yard of space for himself to get shots away at goal. He also has the vision to carve out the occasional chance for his teammates in the final third and is a capable dribbler when running with the ball.

The Norway international can make an impact by scoring his fair share of goals in attack. Sorloth is mainly a centre-forward, but he can also operate in a wide role if his manager asks him to do so. However, it remains to be seen whether he would be able to handle the high intensity of the Premier League if the Red Devils choose to bring him in this month.

Sorloth would certainly improve the quality of Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick’s attacking line. He has the attributes needed to challenge for a regular first-team place at Old Trafford.

At 30, Sorloth still has a few strong years left in him at the top level. Therefore, it would make sense for Manchester United to pursue a striker with his qualities before this transfer window closes, but only if he is available for a reasonable fee.
