Real Sociedad and FC Barcelona have finalised the transfer of Hector Fort to the San Sebastian club. The side from Gipuzkoa have signed the Catalan defender on a deal that will run until the end of the 2030-31 season.
Barcelona will keep 50% of the player’s rights, while the remaining half has been sold to Real Sociedad for eight million euros.
Barcelona have also secured a 20-million-euro buy-back clause, along with a percentage of any future transfer involving the player. The arrangement enables the Blaugrana to retain influence over the progress of an academy graduate who has been part of La Masia since 2013.
Fort, who was born in Barcelona in 2006, made his senior debut for Barcelona in 2023 against Royal Antwerp in the Champions League and went on to feature in 30 matches for the club. Last season, while on loan at Elche, he registered three goals and two assists in 17 appearances and made significant progress in La Liga.
The defender is noted for his ability to operate on either flank, as well as for his pace and his knack for getting into the penalty area. Real Sociedad have therefore added youth and promise to their squad ahead of the close of the transfer window.
