Former Pakistan captain Imran Khan has been in jail for three years without proper care. Greg Chappell, the Australian legend, and other former captains wrote a letter to the current Pakistan Prime Minister, urging the head of state to provide proper treatment to Imran on humanitarian grounds.
Javed Miandad, who shared the dressing room with the 1992 World Cup-winning skipper, got emotional during a recent interview. The 69-year-old came out in support of the former PM. Some of the former India players are also supporting their former rival.
“I started playing alongside Imran during my county days, where we spent a good amount of time together. We used to eat and travel together. Eventually, we started playing for the Pakistan team. Both of us have also captained the side, so our relationship has been very good, and we spent some amazing time on and off the field.”
“It is sad, and I wish that all the things he is going through get solved. One can sit down and solve it. This is unnecessary,” Miandad said. Javed was also seen crying while talking about his former teammate. “He is also somebody’s son. I always think about him and wonder what he must be doing. We played together, supported each other, andwe took Pakistan cricket forward.”

In the same interview, Javed Miandad stated that he was ready to do whatever possible for his former skipper and friend.
“What difference does it make if he is released? How is he going to harm the country? People should understand that we belong to the same land, and one wonders what will happen to the people in years to come. Praying to God that all of this gets solved, and I know him personally. He is honest and wasn’t corrupt. If that was the case, then Imran would have done a lot,” he added.
“What more can I say? Tears are coming out of my eyes. It is my heartfelt message. If there is anything I can do, Iwill surely do it,and I am also praying that everything gets solved soon.”
Even Australian captain Pat Cummins also wrote in support of Imran Khan. “Adding my support here to GC and the other former international captains. I hope the court-ordered medical assessment is allowed to run its course, and that family visits continue. I hope Imran Khan is treated with the dignity anyone deserves.”
