Kolkata. Political controversy has increased in West Bengal regarding the program organized on the foundation day of Trinamool Chhatra Parishad. Opposition leader Subhendu Adhikari has alleged that the conditions set by the Calcutta High Court were not followed during the program. He has talked about filing an FIR against former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Besides, the officer also indicated to approach the High Court regarding the matter. Shubhendu Adhikari alleges that the presence of people on the road and the situation of traffic being affected during the program was not in accordance with the instructions of the High Court. However, the final position regarding violation of court instructions in this case will be clear only from the administrative and judicial process.

Controversy over Trinamool Student Council program

On Friday, a conference was organized by the party on the occasion of the foundation day of Trinamool Chhatra Parishad. Issues to permission and arrangements had already been raised in the court regarding the program. Calcutta High Court had set some conditions while giving permission to organize the program. Shubhendu Adhikari claimed that these conditions were violated during the conference.

Shubhendu Adhikari made serious allegations

Subhendu Adhikari alleged that Mamata Banerjee was also present at the program and during her presence a large number of people gathered on the road. According to the official, this affected the traffic and created a road jam-like situation. He said that instructions have been given to register an FIR against Mamata Banerjee for violating the High Court’s instructions. He also said that he will approach the High Court regarding this matter.

Two groups allowed to organize programs at different places

Both factions of Trinamool Congress had sought permission to organize the program on the foundation day of Trinamool Chhatra Parishad. After the matter reached the court, the High Court earmarked separate venues for both the parties. The faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee was allowed to hold the event on Rani Rashmoni Road, while the Kalighat Trinamool faction led by Mamata Banerjee got permission to hold the event on a part of Cathedral Road.

Presence limit of 1,500 people

Under the directions of the High Court, the presence of more than 1,500 workers and supporters was banned at the program. Apart from this, the police were instructed to ensure adequate security arrangements. The time for the program was fixed from 12 noon to 3 pm. Besides, a condition was also laid down to keep one section each of Cathedral Road and Rani Rashmoni Road open for traffic.

After Shubhendu Adhikari filed an FIR and approached the High Court, the political rhetoric in this matter is likely to intensify further.
