With the changing weather, problems like cold, cough and fever become common. One of these is Influenza A (H1N1). In healthy adults, this infection will resolve on its own in most cases. However, it is not right to ignore its symptoms, especially children, elderly and people already suffering from any health problem need to be more careful.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare posted on social media platform X that the most common symptoms of H1N1 include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, headache, body or muscle pain and fatigue. Some people may also have problems like nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. It is not necessary that all symptoms appear in every person. Sometimes in the beginning it feels like normal flu or viral.

In such a situation, it is important to pay attention to the signals of the body. If you are feeling a lot of pain and weakness in the body along with fever or cough, then take adequate rest and keep yourself hydrated. Keep taking water, soup or other suitable liquids, so that there is no shortage of water in the body. Rest helps the body fight infection.

Some small everyday habits are very important to prevent respiratory infections like H1N1. Wash hands regularly with soap and water. Cover mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. Dispose of used tissues properly and clean hands. If you are feeling unwell, stay home and avoid contact with others. This helps reduce the chances of the infection spreading.

It is also important to keep an eye on your health during illness. If symptoms do not subside within 5–6 days, persist, or appear to be worsening, consult a doctor. Especially in small children, elderly people and people suffering from any other health problem, there should be no delay in seeking medical advice if symptoms appear. If needed, the nearest government health center can also be contacted.
