Vietnamese billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, Southeast Asia’s richest person, was among the world’s five biggest wealth gainers on Thursday, alongside Elon Musk, Larry Ellison, Michael Dell and Mark Zuckerberg.
Vuong, chairman of conglomerate Vingroup, saw his fortune increase by as much as US$2.3 billion during the day, the fourth-largest gain globally, according to Forbes.
Musk recorded the biggest increase, with his wealth rising by $6.8 billion, followed by Oracle chief technology officer Larry Ellison with a $4.3-billion gain.
Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell ranked third after adding $3.4 billion to his fortune, while Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg completed the top five with an increase of $2.1 billion.
At the time of publication, Musk remained the world’s richest person with an estimated net worth of $872 billion, while Vuong ranked 60th globally with $36.5 billion.

The increase was calculated by changes in the share value of companies linked to the billionaires.
Vingroup shares climbed to a new peak of VND236,000 ($9.05) Thursday, having risen 38% since the beginning of the year.
Vietnam’s biggest company was last week included in the FTSE Global Equity Index Series alongside 26 others in the country.
Also on Thursday, Vuong’s wife Pham Thu Huong became the second richest person in Vietnam with $4 billion in wealth, and shared the spot with Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, chairwoman of low-cost airline Vietjet Air.
