The government has given one year time to rickshaw and taxi drivers to learn spoken Marathi.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has clarified that during this period, no action will be taken against drivers who do not have adequate knowledge of Marathi language.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that heads of rickshaw-taxi driver organizations had met him. On behalf of the drivers, he had asked for one year's additional time to learn Marathi. Accepting their demand, the government has decided to give one year's extension. The government will not take any action against them if they do not come to Marathi for one year.
