Mumbai: They were two of Team India’s batting pillars for a decade and a half.

Rahul Dravid, the ‘Wall’ that resisted the most fearsome bowlers in the world, compiled over 13,000 Test runs at 52-plus average.

Virender ‘Viru’ Sehwag, the flamboyant opener, is the lone Test triple-centurion for India – he made two 300-plus scores.

The duo played 103 Test matches together for the country, the last of them in January 2012, against Australia at the Adelaide Oval.

Fourteen-and-a-half years later, an Indian squad has brought together a Dravid and a Sehwag.

No, the golden oldies have not made a comeback to the national team. It’s their sons — who have been selected.

Rahul’s younger son Anvay Dravid and Viru’s elder son Aaryavir Sehwag are part of India’s Under-19 squad for a three-match home series against Australia.

Dravid junior retained his place in the India U-19 ODI squad, having toured Sri Lanka last month, while this is the maiden national call-up for Sehwag’s son.

The 17-year-old Anvay Dravid is a wicketkeeper-batter, who scored 14 and 87 in the two youth ODIs against Sri Lanka.

On the other hand, 18-year-old Aryavir is a right-hand batter who plays for Central Delhi Kings in Delhi Premier League.
