The Indian stock market declined for the second consecutive trading session. The Sensex fell 539.35 points or 0.70% to 76,933.59, while the Nifty 50 fell 116.90 points or 0.48% to 24,090.85.

Heavy selling pressure was witnessed in the Harty stock market for the second consecutive trading session on Thursday. After day-long fluctuations, both Sensex and Nifty closed with losses.

Pressure in shares of banking, auto and IT sectors dragged down the major indices. At the end of trading, the Sensex fell by more than 539 points, while the Nifty 50 closed below the 24,100 level.

Amidst the weakness in the market, investors’ attention remained on global cues, activism of foreign investors and the ongoing volatility in the shares of major companies.

Sensex fell 539 points, Nifty also closed down.

BSE Sensex closed at 76,933.59, down 539.35 points or 0.70% in Thursday’s trading session. Similarly, NSE Nifty 50 fell by 116.90 points or 0.48% and closed at 24,090.85.

Market expansion also remained weak. A total of 2,392 shares closed with losses on BSE, while 1,736 shares closed with gains. 167 shares remained unchanged. Selling pressure in the broader market also remained intact to a large extent.

These stocks including HDFC Bank and M&M declined

Among the major stocks of Sensex and Nifty, special pressure was seen on banking and auto companies. HDFC Bank fell by about 1.75%, while Mahindra & Mahindra declined by 1.65%.

Apart from this, there was a decline of 1.58% in NTPC, 1.17% in Indigo and 0.99% in HCL Technologies. Shares of Shriram Finance, Bharti Airtel, SBI, ITC and Reliance Industries also remained weak.

Other notable decliners include Hindalco Industries. The market sentiment was affected by selling in metal, auto and banking stocks.

Despite the fall in the market, these stocks are rising
