Indian Railway Recruitment 2026: There is good news for the youth who are dreaming of starting a career as an apprentice in Railways. East Coast Railway has started the application process for recruitment to 1,599 apprentice posts. 10th pass candidates can apply online for this recruitment. Interested candidates are advised to submit their form well in time without waiting for the last date. The application process has started from 26 August 2026 and candidates will be able to apply till 15 September 2026. The application will be made online through the official recruitment portal of East Coast Railway eastcoastrail.indianrailways.gov.in. Recruitment will be done on 1,599 apprentice posts. The objective of this recruitment drive is to fill apprentice posts in various departments of East Coast Railway. Selected candidates will be given training in the relevant trade, which will give them an opportunity to gain practical experience. Apprenticeship can be especially useful for those youth who want to gain skills and industry experience in a technical field after 10th. Who can apply? The candidate must have passed 10th class (Matriculation) under 10+2 system from a recognized board. There should be at least 50 percent marks in 10th. Apart from this, the conditions of educational and technical qualification prescribed for the concerned trade may also be applicable.

Therefore, before applying, candidates must check the eligibility of their trade in the official notification. What is the age limit? The age of the candidate should be minimum 15 years and maximum 24 years as on 15 September 2026. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will get the benefit of relaxation in upper age limit as per government rules. How much application fee will have to be paid? Normally the application fee for this recruitment has been fixed at Rs 100. However, SC, ST, PwBD and women candidates have been given complete exemption from application fee. Fees can be paid through online means like debit card, credit card, UPI or internet banking. Any additional transaction charges will have to be paid by the candidate himself. Stipend will be given during training: Candidates selected as apprentice will be given monthly stipend during training as per the existing rules of Railway Board. The rate of stipend will be decided as per the government instructions issued from time to time. Keep in mind that hostel facility will not be available during the training. The selected apprentice will have to make his own arrangements for accommodation. After completion of training, the candidate will be released after completing the apprenticeship.
