The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reopened the application window for the 22nd edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). Eligible candidates can apply online until September 1, 2026. In a notice issued on August 25, CBSE stated that this opportunity is intended for eligible candidates who were unable to apply previously. Candidates who have already successfully submitted their applications do not need to apply again.

The process to apply for CTET 2026 reopened on August 25. Candidates can submit their applications until September 1, 2026. Previously, the application process for the 22nd edition ran from May 11 to June 10. Eligible candidates who did not apply during that period have now been given another chance. Candidates can submit their applications via the official website.

Decision Taken Following Supreme Court Ruling

CBSE decided to reopen the application window following a Supreme Court verdict. According to the Board, the Supreme Court emphasized that eligible teachers should be given a fair opportunity to meet the requirements of the prescribed teacher eligibility test. Keeping this in mind, CBSE decided to reopen the online application portal for all eligible candidates who were previously unable to apply.

What Should Candidates Who Have Already Applied Do?

Candidates who have already submitted their applications for CTET 2026 do not need to register again. The new application window is open only to eligible candidates who could not apply during the previous application process.

When is the New Exam Date for CTET 2026? CBSE has not yet announced the new dates for the 22nd edition of the CTET. According to the board, the revised exam schedule will be released after the reopened application window closes on September 1. Therefore, candidates applying afresh should keep an eye on the official CBSE website for updates regarding the exam schedule. It is worth noting that CBSE has conducted 21 editions of the CTET so far; the result for the 21st CTET was declared on March 30, 2026.
