Inflation in the Country : The rising prices of food items including sugar, onion and pulses in the country have put further burden on the pockets of the common man. This increase has happened at a time when only a few days are left for big festivals like Rakshabandhan, Janmashtami and Ganesh Chaturthi. Meanwhile, the country's largest opposition party Congress has attacked the Modi government at the Center over the slogan 'Acche Din Wale'.

Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge has accused the government of doing stunts and indulging in absurdities to divert people's attention from issues like inflation. Onion prices have increased by 59% in a year, in many cities it is ₹ 50-60/kg, sugar at ₹ 60-70/kg, in some places up to ₹ 72/kg, mustard oil has crossed ₹ 200/L…'

The Congress leader has claimed that food inflation in the country is 5.52% and wholesale inflation is 9.78%. He further wrote, 'There has been a BJP government for 12 years, and the situation of “good days” is such that sometimes pulses, sometimes vegetables, sometimes oil, sometimes sugar spoil the budget of the common man.' Let us tell you that there has been a huge jump in the prices of sugar in the retail market, the sugar which was being sold at Rs 45 per kg a few weeks ago is now being sold at Rs 70 per kg.

Apart from this, the price of onion has increased by 40 percent. At the same time, there has been a huge jump in the prices of pigeon pea, whole urad and masoor dal. Along with this, the prices of edible oils have also increased.
