Islamabad Hospital Fire: A painful accident occurred on Wednesday at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. 15 newborns died in a fire in the nursery located in the gynecology ward of the hospital. A total of 16 newborns were present in the nursery at the time of the accident, out of which only one child could be saved safely.
Rescue teams reached the spot as soon as the information was received.
According to preliminary information, the fire broke out after the compressor of the air conditioner installed in the nursery exploded. Within no time the fire spread throughout the ward. As soon as information about the incident was received, rescue teams reached the spot and started the rescue operation. Relief operations were carried out with the help of six fire engines and four ambulances.
The administration formed an inquiry committee
According to officials, the fire has been brought under control. The administration has constituted an inquiry committee to investigate the causes of the accident. The committee will find out how the fire broke out and what were the reasons behind the incident.
