With six days still left in the transfer window, Premier League clubs have already spent 3.051 billion euros. According to L'Equipe, Manchester City's 100 million euro deal for Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi took the overall figure past the 3 billion euro mark.

Last season's record total of 3.55 billion euros could yet be challenged, although some transfers are already due to be entered into the 2027-28 accounts. One such case is the confirmed move involving Omar Marmoush between Manchester City and Tottenham, a loan agreement carrying a 58 million euro obligation to buy along with roughly 12 million euros in add-ons.

Transfers valued at 50 million euros or more are also moving towards another notable high, after 20 such deals last season and 18 so far this summer. Those fees are concentrated among fewer than half of the league's clubs, with nine teams accounting for them, while Chelsea and Tottenham have each reached that level four times.

Bouaddi is the fourth 100 million euro signing in the Premier League this summer. He joins Morgan Rogers, who moved from Aston Villa to Chelsea for 138 million euros, Elliot Anderson, who went from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City for 135 million euros, and Sandro Tonali, who switched from Newcastle to Tottenham for 108 million euros. In 2025, only two transfers went beyond 100 million euros: Alexander Isak's move from Newcastle to Liverpool for 145 million euros and Florian Wirtz's transfer from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool for 125 million euros.

Rogers and Anderson are now the most expensive English players ever, overtaking Jude Bellingham's 127 million euro transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid in 2023. They sit fifth and sixth on the all-time list, behind Neymar's move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain for 222 million euros, Kylian Mbappe's transfer from Monaco to Paris Saint-Germain for 180 million euros, Ousmane Dembele's switch from Borussia Dortmund to Barcelona for 148 million euros, and Alexander Isak.
