Political rhetoric has intensified between Aam Aadmi Party and BJP regarding government schools of Punjab. BJP is continuously targeting the Bhagwant Mann government regarding the condition of schools in Punjab.

New Delhi: The political dispute between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding government schools of Punjab has intensified. After BJP raised questions on the condition of schools in Punjab, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal has given an open challenge to BJP. He proposed to compare government schools of Punjab and Gujarat and conduct joint inspection of 1,000-1,000 schools from both the states.

Kejriwal said that BJP has been targeting the Aam Aadmi Party government for the last few days regarding the government schools of Punjab. In response to this, he said that if there is a debate about the schools of Gujarat and Punjab, then the schools of both the states should be inspected on the ground.

Kejriwal gave challenge to inspect 1,000 schools

Arvind Kejriwal said that the Punjab government will provide the list of its 1,000 government schools and the BJP should provide the list of 1,000 schools in Gujarat. After this, representatives from both sides, media and other concerned people can visit these schools. According to him, in this way the actual condition of schools, basic facilities and education system can be compared.

Kejriwal accused BJP that its leaders were insisting on showing the shortcomings of Punjab’s schools, while they should also pay attention to the condition of government schools in their own states.

Big claim made regarding 19,700 schools of Punjab

Kejriwal enumerated the achievements of the government regarding the condition of government schools in Punjab. He claimed that there are about 19,700 government schools in the state and out of these, improvement work has been completed in about 19,200 schools. According to him, improvement work is also going on in the remaining 500 schools and the target is to improve these also in the coming one and a half to two years.

The AAP convenor also claimed that Punjab has reached the top position in the country in terms of government school education. He said that when the Aam Aadmi Party government was formed in 2022, the situation in Punjab was very low and now there has been a big improvement in it. However, it is important to look at such claims to education on the basis of separate government data and independent evaluation. Kejriwal also cited the NITI Aayog report in support of his claim.

Questions raised on BJP’s video also

A video was shared from the official social media handle of BJP regarding government schools of Punjab. Through a video, BJP raised questions on the education system of Punjab government regarding the alleged poor condition of a school in Fatehgarh Sahib. BJP alleged that the condition of basic facilities in the school shows the shortcomings of the government’s education model. The party raised the issue of the condition of toilets built exclusively for girl students.

Responding to this video, Kejriwal claimed that the footage used by BJP is an old video of 2018. He said that at that time there was a Congress government in Punjab and before that the BJP led government was also in power in the state. Kejriwal alleged that the old video is being presented by linking it to the policies of the current government. In response to BJP’s allegations, he challenged to investigate the current condition of schools.
