Vitesse Arnhem are going through a very difficult spell at the moment. The Dutch second-tier club, which spent more than 20 years in the Eredivisie before being relegated in 2024, is dealing with major financial problems.
That may also explain why goalkeeper Connor van den Berg came up with a special gesture for the Vitesse supporters.
The 25-year-old shot-stopper revealed his contract extension until 2029 right in the middle of the home stand. While the fans were clearly thrilled, they would probably also have preferred to see their first-choice keeper out on the pitch.
Van den Berg is currently serving a suspension following a red card and had to watch Vitesse's 3-0 defeat to Almere City from the stands.
