Students at a government school in Khajuri Khas, Delhi, are distressed due to the absence of a chemistry teacher. They state that the lack of a teacher is hindering their preparation for board examinations.

Students from a government school in Khajuri Khas have complained about the absence of a regular chemistry teacher. They allege that the school has been without a regular chemistry teacher for nearly three academic years. This has most significantly impacted students in the science stream of classes 11 and 12. Class 12 students, in particular, are expressing concern as they need to prepare for their board exams. The students have submitted a written representation to the Delhi Government's Directorate of Education, demanding the immediate appointment of a chemistry teacher.

This issue concerns GSKV Khajuri Khas. The school has two sections each for the science stream in classes 11 and 12, with approximately 50 to 55 students per section. Consequently, there are over 200 students across these four sections who are unable to attend regular chemistry classes. Students state that they have repeatedly complained to the school principal and submitted written applications, yet no permanent solution has been found. They allege that the lack of regular instruction in a core subject like chemistry is hampering their board exam preparation.

A Class 12 science student mentioned that there has been no regular chemistry teacher since he enrolled in Class 11. According to the student, despite submitting multiple applications regarding this issue, their demands have been ignored. The complaint submitted by the students urges the Directorate of Education to treat the matter seriously and ensure the prompt appointment of a qualified chemistry teacher. It highlights that the prolonged absence of a chemistry teacher is directly affecting the students' preparation, particularly those set to appear for board examinations. Advocate and education activist Ashok Agarwal has also written to the Directorate of Education regarding this matter. Highlighting the students' plight, he has demanded the immediate appointment of a teacher. He stated that if a chemistry teacher is not appointed soon, the students might approach the Delhi High Court.

The complaints mention issues regarding Biology instruction as well, not just Chemistry. According to a student, the Biology teacher attends the school for only about three days a week, spending the remaining days conducting classes at another school. The complaint emphasizes that regular classes and teacher guidance are essential for science stream students in subjects like Chemistry, Physics, and Biology; consequently, the prolonged shortage of teachers is adversely affecting the students' preparation for board exams.

Meanwhile, an official from the Education Department acknowledged the long-standing issue, noting that students have been without a regular chemistry teacher for at least three years. He stated that the recruitment and posting process for teaching positions is currently underway.

According to the official, the department is identifying such issues by regularly seeking feedback from school heads, and necessary steps will be taken after investigating the matter.
