Bayern Munich will have to do without Jamal Musiala for their opening match of the 2026/27 Bundesliga season against VfB Stuttgart on Friday, according to reports from Kicker and Bild.

The Germany international is expected to resume team training this week, but he will not be part of the squad for Friday's fixture.

Musiala had collapsed on the pitch during Bayern's pre-season friendlies against RB Leipzig and Heidenheim, and later disclosed that he had been diagnosed with absence seizures caused by a neurological dysfunction.

The 23-year-old is currently working closely with Bayern's medical staff and head coach Vincent Kompany to fine-tune and properly regulate his medication in an effort to reduce the risk of any further collapses.

With Musiala unavailable, Nathaniel Brown could once again be used in a central attacking midfield role, just as he was in Saturday's 2-1 DFL-Supercup victory over Borussia Dortmund.

Kompany may also opt for new signing Ismael Saibari, who is still building up his fitness after recovering from the injury he suffered while representing Morocco during the World Cup.
