When is Rakshabandhan (When is Rakshabandhan 2026)

According to Drik Panchang, the festival of Rakshabandhan is celebrated every year on the full moon date of Shravan month. This year, Shravan Purnima Tithi is starting on 27th August 2026 at 9.09 am, which will end on 28th August at 9.49 am. Due to the recognition of Udaya Tithi in the scriptures, the holy festival of Rakshabandhan will be celebrated on 28th August 2026, Friday only.

Will Bhadra be there on Rakshabandhan or not?

According to the scriptures, special attention is paid to Bhadra period on Rakshabandhan, because tying Rakhi during the Bhadra period is considered extremely inauspicious. This time the good news is that there will be no shadow of Bhadra on the day of Rakshabandhan on 28th August. According to the Panchang, this year Bhadra Kaal will start from 9.08 am on August 27 and end at 9.32 pm. Therefore, Rakhi on 28th August will be completely without Bhadra.

Rahukaal time on Rakshabandhan

While tying Rakhi, it is important to keep Rahukaal in mind. This year, on 28th August i.e. the day of Rakshabandhan, Rahukaal will be from 10.54 am to 12.28 pm. One should avoid tying Rakhi during this period.

The last lunar eclipse of the year will take place on August 28.

According to almanac calculations, the last lunar eclipse of the year is going to occur on the day of Shravan Purnima i.e. Rakshabandhan. This eclipse will start from 6:53 am in the morning and will continue till 12:31 pm, the total duration of which will be approximately 5 hours 38 minutes.

However, this lunar eclipse will not be visible in India. Due to it not being visible in India, its Sutak period will also not be valid. In such a situation, sisters can tie Rakhi to their brothers during auspicious times without any fear or worry.
