Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly attacked Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi had recently written a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, prominently raising the problems and concerns of tribal students of the state. As soon as this letter came to light, BJP became aggressive and advised Rahul Gandhi to review the functioning of tribal welfare departments and hostels in Congress ruled states of Telangana and Karnataka before making statements on Maharashtra.

BJP launched a direct attack on Rahul Gandhi, alleging that his policy has been to 'first do wrong things and then create ruckus when action is taken'. The ruling party clarified that the Maharashtra government is fully capable of ensuring the safety of the tribal communities and students of the state.

BJP made serious allegations in its statement and claimed that the management of the tribal schools against which students have come out on the streets is in the hands of Congress leaders. BJP said, “Some time ago, three innocent girls died tragically in a school. The director of that school is former Congress MP Marotrao Kowase, while his son Vishwajit Kowase (who is the president of Gadchiroli District Congress Committee) is the secretary of the school.”

Additionally, the BJP also cited the inspection of an ashram school (residential school) in Yavatmal. The party claims that there were not even doors in the girls' bathroom. According to BJP, this ashram school is run by former minister and senior Congress leader Vasant Purke.

When Congress was in power, it was captured by wrong way: BJP

The BJP alleged that whenever the Congress was in power, it established its control over these tribal institutions and schools through unfair means and misused them. Along with this, the ruling party accused the opposition leaders of continuous exploitation of tribal communities. BJP said in a strict tone that any effort being made to stop the legal action initiated against the guilty leaders will not be successful.

He wrote, “During the 'Chhatra Ki Goonj' program in Pune, tribal girl students expressed pain that inhumane provisions like unnecessary age limit of 30 years, humiliating rules, unsafe infrastructure and pregnancy tests for women have been imposed in hostels.

While making public the memorandum submitted by the students and the letter written by him, Rahul Gandhi had said, “These girl students coming from remote villages and remote areas are not asking for any dole, but are demanding their legitimate rights. I hope that the Chief Minister will meet them personally and find an immediate solution to their serious problems.”
