New interest from Manchester City has not been ruled out, with two possible replacements being discussed.

Chelsea’s busy transfer window has only eight days left before it closes, but their business is still some way from complete.

The Blues are still active in the market, mainly in terms of outgoing deals, after a summer of spending that was headlined by the £117 million signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.

Chelsea have also brought in Jordan Henderson, Danny Welbeck, Marco Palestra, Pep Chavarria and Maxence Lacroix.

Alongside that, several pre-arranged transfers have added to the arrivals list, with Valentin Barco, Emmanuel Emegha, Geovany Quenda and Dastan Satpayev all joining as well. Satpayev has since been sent on loan to Burnley.

Here, Standard Sport looks at the transfer work Chelsea still need to complete before the 11pm deadline on September 1.

From Chelsea’s own point of view, not a great deal remains. After a summer of spending, the club feel well settled with their squad and are largely happy to move forward as they are.

Another signing has not been completely ruled out, but Chelsea’s sporting directors are satisfied with the business already done.

The Enzo Fernandez situation is still not fully over. Chelsea’s self-imposed deadline passed earlier this month without any bids arriving, but Manchester City remain interested and another move cannot be dismissed, even though Chelsea’s £120 million asking price is expected to increase as September 1 gets closer.

Chelsea are conscious of that possibility and are watching the market for potential replacements for Fernandez. Their demands for the Argentine will rise because they are also wary of being forced to overpay for his replacement, given how late in the window they would be trying to sign a top-class midfielder.

Chelsea continue to be linked with players regularly, as is always the case with major clubs. The latest name is Juventus winger Francisco Conceicao, who has been mentioned as a possible replacement if Pedro Neto leaves. However, Chelsea are not currently in advanced talks to sign anyone.

Some Chelsea supporters are still not fully convinced by the club’s two goalkeepers, Robert Sanchez and Mike Penders, but Chelsea are content with the pair and are not planning to strengthen in goal. They have no interest in Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa or Aston Villa’s unsettled keeper Emi Martinez, despite reports suggesting otherwise.

Chelsea will try to sign a leading midfielder if Fernandez is sold, but there is no certainty that City will make an offer large enough to trigger that situation. Chelsea admire Bournemouth’s Alex Scott and have also been linked with Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.

Chelsea have plenty of work to do when it comes to departures. They are looking to sell Nicolas Jackson and would accept an offer of £65 million. There are interested clubs, including Aston Villa, whose striker Ollie Watkins is said to be open to a move to Saudi club Al Hilal.

Centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo and striker Liam Delap are also available for sale and are both likely to leave, although Chelsea’s £50 million valuation of Delap looks high and may become a stumbling block for interested clubs. Everton and Nottingham Forest have both shown interest before.

Chelsea do not want to sell Neto and value him at close to £100 million, but he has attracted interest from City, Tottenham and Al Hilal. The Saudi side are working on a deal for Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli, while Spurs have since agreed a move for Savinho, and those developments could affect either club’s pursuit of Neto. Xabi Alonso wants him to remain at Chelsea.

Mamadou Sarr could leave, while Mykhailo Mudryk is available on loan. Despite interest from Italy, his preference is to stay in the Premier League. Coventry City and Leeds are both interested, although talks with Leeds have now ended because the terms did not meet Chelsea’s demands. Regular game time is the priority.

Dario Essugo is available for loan, though there is no guarantee he will depart. Marc Guiu can be sold, and his asking price is £25 million.
