Miss Universe India 2026 : 19 year old Kajiya Liz Mejo from Kerala became Miss Universe India 2026. On Sunday evening in Jaipur, the 19-year-old law student from Mavelikkara in Kerala took to the stage as one of the 52 finalists and returned wearing the 'Miss Universe India' crown. Kazia Liz Mezo was crowned 'Miss Universe India 2026' at the grand finale held in Jaipur; Current winner Manika Vishwakarma handed over the crown to her successor. This was the third edition of 'Miss Universe India', which was organized by Glamanand Group at Zee Studios in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Who is Kajiya Liz Mezzo?

For Kazia Liz Mezzo, a teenager who was once hesitant to even see unfiltered photos of herself, it's a memorable and significant turning point. Born in 2007, Mezo grew up in Abu Dhabi, where she completed her schooling from Emirates National School, St. Joseph's School and Abu Dhabi Indian School. She is the daughter of Mejo Abraham and Suja Mejo of Mavelikkara. Currently she lives in Kochi and is studying law in Bengaluru. His association with the stage started at an early age. She began training in classical dance in Abu Dhabi in 2012 and honed her skills in many creative fields.

Kajiya started participating in pageants in 2024 and represented India at 'Miss Teen International 2025', where she placed first runner-up. A few months later, she moved up a category and won the state title, catapulting her into the national spotlight. She was crowned 'Beena Kannan Couture Miss Universe Kerala 2026' by defeating Malavika Rajendran Deva and Liz Zeman Jacob at the event held in Kochi.

A total of 52 contestants competed for the 2026 title – including 31 from states and union territories, 20 wildcards and one NRI contestant. These events took place in Jaipur, Indore, Bengaluru and New Delhi. Now Kajiya Mejo, moving from the national stage to the international stage, will represent India at the 75th Miss Universe Competition to be held in Puerto Rico in November. In the same finale, Vaishnavi Ganesh was chosen as the first runner-up and Miss International India 2026. For a teenager whose pageant journey started barely a year ago with a runner-up finish in the teen title, winning India's Miss Universe crown and getting a chance on the global stage in Puerto Rico has come very fast.
