Now You See Me star Dave Franco revealed that he and his fellow cast members genuinely believed the original 2013 heist film would end their acting careers. Speaking with Sean Evans on First We Feast’s Hot OnesFranco shared that the cast was so uncertain about the project’s future during production that they decided to toast to the end of their Hollywood journeys after the very first day of shooting.

On the web show, Franco recalled: “I remember at the end of the first day, it was such chaos trying to figure it out, that we all went out to dinner, and we literally cheers’ed to the end of our careers. We thought this movie was going to take us down.”

Although Franco and the cast featuring Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Mélanie Laurent, and Isla Fisher were not confident about the project, the film still became a box-office success. The franchise has since expanded to three installments, with a fourth one officially in development.

Before featuring in the franchise’s debut in 2013, Franco had a varied career in film and television. His Now You See Me success also expanded his filmography. He appeared in movies like Fright Night, 21 Jump Street, and Warm Bodies, the last of which was released the same year as Now You See Me.

Since then, his career has spanned live-action and animated movies alike. Franco has done voiceover for films like Hoppers and The Lego Ninjago Movie, along with different roles in films like The Disaster Artist and 6 Underground.

He also had an extensive television career, appearing in shows like Scrubs, The Now, and The Studio while also voicing Tony Stark/Iron Man in the video game Marvel Avengers Academy.
