According to ACB officials, Revenue Inspector Vemuganti Purnachander Rao had allegedly demanded the bribe for issuing a report to the Tahsildar to facilitate the registration of land sold by the complainant’s sister.

The amount was allegedly received on his behalf by Shaik Ahmed, Grama Palana Officer of Kolanupaka village.

Rs 14,000 recovered from second accused

Officials of the ACB’s Nalgonda Range laid a trap and recovered the Rs 14,000 bribe from Ahmed, acting at the instance of the Revenue Inspector.

Both accused officers had acted improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage, the ACB said.

The two were produced before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally in Hyderabad and sent to judicial remand. The case is under investigation.

The ACB has appealed to the public to report any demand for a bribe by a public servant on its toll-free helpline, 1064.
