Imran Masood is the MP from Saharanpur Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh. Presently he is in Congress but in the past he has also been in Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP). His entire family is political and many other members are also active. This time, Imran Masood's son-in-law Shayan Masood has become the reason for discussion. On one hand, Imran Masood is making statements demanding more seats from Congress's alliance partner SP, on the other hand, his son-in-law Shayan has joined the same SP. As soon as he joined SP, allegations were made that he had thrown his wife i.e. Imran Masood's daughter out of the house. It is being said that the matter is domestic but now it seems to be political also. The reason for this is that elections are near and there are political ambitions on both sides.

Imran Masood, who once rebelled against his own uncle, is now doing something similar to his son-in-law. Sometimes he changed party and contested elections against his uncle. Now his own son-in-law Shayan Masood has also followed the same path. 12 years ago, Imran Masood left SP and joined Congress after being denied ticket. Now Shayan Masood himself has joined SP despite his father-in-law i.e. Imran Masood being in Congress. All this is happening when the figure of 36 is visible between Imran Masood and SP.

What is the new controversy?

Imran Masood is making a lot of statements on behalf of Congress before the 2027 assembly elections. In most of the statements he targets SP and demands more seats. Just a few days ago, he started arguing with SP MLA Ashu Malik in a meeting. He also said that no member of his family will contest the assembly elections. It is being said that Shayan Masood, who was preparing to contest the elections, was shocked by this and immediately joined SP.

After he joined SP, Imran Masood's nephew Hamza Noman Masood alleged that his sister, i.e. Shayan's wife, was beaten up by Shayan and thrown out of the house. He also made serious allegations against Shayan's father Shadan and said that all this has been going on for 5 years but now one cannot remain silent. On this, Shayan Masood says that he does not want to make the family matters public.

What is the story of Imran Masood?

Imran Masood, Lok Sabha MP from Saharanpur, joined Congress for the third time in October 2023. He had joined Samajwadi Party before the 2022 assembly elections. Even when SP did not give him ticket in the 2022 assembly elections, he still hoped that if the government was formed, he would get some other post. When SP did not win, Imran Masood left SP and joined BSP. Later, due to praising Rahul Gandhi while in BSP, Mayawati showed him the way out of the party.

Imran Masood, who became the chairman of Saharanpur Municipality in 2006, sought assembly ticket from SP the very next year. When SP did not give ticket, Imran Masood contested as an independent and became MLA. Before the 2012 assembly elections, the entire family of Imran Masood joined Congress.

In 2012, Imran Masood lost from Nakur assembly seat by contesting on Congress ticket. In 2012 he again joined SP. SP gave him Lok Sabha ticket in 2014 but his own uncle i.e. Qazi Masood got Imran's ticket canceled and got his son Shazaan. Then Imran immediately joined Congress and contested the elections on its ticket. Both were defeated and BJP won.

However, the image of Imran Masood as a leader continued to develop. In 2017, he again contested Nakur seat on Congress ticket but lost. In 2019, he contested the Lok Sabha elections from Saharanpur on Congress ticket but lost. We have told the story after that in the beginning itself.

Brother Noman Masood also contested elections a lot

Like Imran Masood, his twin brother Noman Masood has also been active in politics. In the 2022 assembly elections, when Imran Masood was in SP, his brother Noman Masood contested on BSP ticket from Gangoh assembly seat and stood third. In the 2019 by-election, he contested from the same seat on Congress ticket and came second by getting 62,881 votes. In 2017 also, he had contested the elections on Congress ticket but lost.

Masood family story

In Saharanpur, Qazi Rashid Masood put this family on the political map. He became MP of Saharanpur a total of 5 times. Rashid Masood, who reached Lok Sabha once on Janata Party, then Janata Party (Secular) and then twice on Janata Dal ticket, later joined Mulayam Singh Yadav. In 2004, he became SP's Lok Sabha MP from Saharanpur. He also remained in Congress for some time but went to the polls in 1998 on Congress ticket by contesting against Kanshi Ram. Kanshi Ram also lost in this election and then Nakli Singh of BJP won the election. Rashid Masood, who was the Health Minister (Independent Charge) in the Central Government, had studied from Aligarh Muslim University. He also went to Rajya Sabha twice. In the year 2011, he resigned from Rajya Sabha and Samajwadi Party and joined Congress. He died in the year 2020.

Qazi Rashid Masood had a total of four brothers. Arshad, Irshad, Rashid and Rasheed. Arshad and Irshad became professors while Rasheed and Rashid entered politics. Rashid Masood made himself the heir to the politics of his father Qazi Masood and became a big leader. His sister Rashid did not become active but his sons Imran and Noman became very active in politics. Shazaan Masood is the only son of Rashid Masood.

2014 election and controversy

In the year 2011, the entire family including Rashid Masood and his nephew Imran Masood had joined Congress. Due to this, in 2012, Imran Masood contested the assembly elections from Nakur. He lost but did not sit still. He also wanted to contest the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. It is said that he had already taken a ticket for himself from SP, but his uncle i.e. Rashid Masood got his ticket canceled and got the ticket to his son i.e. Shazaan Masood. Keep in mind that this is the same Shazaan Masood who has now again joined SP along with his son Shayaan.

Then Imran Masood was desperate to contest the elections and he contested the elections on Congress ticket. He got 4.07 lakh votes while his cousin Shazaan got only 52,765 votes. From here it has been proved that Imran Masood is the big leader in the family.

Now the dispute is about the next generation. On one side is Imran Masood's nephew Hamza Masood. He is the son of Imran's twin brother Noman Masood. He considers himself the heir of Imran Masood. On the other hand, Shajaan's son Shayaan is also very active in politics. There is talk that Shayan wanted to contest the 2027 elections from Behat Assembly. However, when Imran Masood said that no one from the family would contest the ticket, he parted ways with the Congress. However, currently SP's Omar Ali Khan is the MLA from this seat, who is the son-in-law of Jama Masjid Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari.
