Hansi Flick’s denial adds fresh twist to Manchester United’s Alejandro Balde chase

Manchester United have been handed an important update on Alejandro Balde after Hansi Flick denied that he had told the Barcelona left-back to leave the club, as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Barcelona manager also confirmed that he had spoken with the defender on Sunday morning, and that another discussion was planned for the next day.

Flick’s clarification does not bring Balde’s future to a conclusion, but it does challenge the idea that the player has already been pushed towards the exit.

Romano shared Flick’s response amid the growing speculation over the left-back’s standing at Barcelona.

Flick said: “I have NOT told Alejandro Balde to leave”.

The German added: “I spoke with him this morning, I told him to think about it and that we’ll talk again tomorrow”.

Those remarks appear carefully framed. Flick has dismissed one particular claim, but his acknowledgement that Balde needs time to think before further talks suggests there is still a significant issue to sort out.

United are believed to be in the market for a left-back before the transfer window shuts on 1st September. Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall is regarded as a leading target, but he is expected to cost more than INEOS are willing to pay. That makes Balde a very strong alternative if United can land him for a sensible fee.

This latest development is relevant for United because earlier reports had stated that the Red Devils had already submitted an offer for Balde and were in a strong position in the battle to sign him.

Other reports had also indicated that Flick’s earlier handling of the matter had sparked fresh doubt over the defender’s future. His latest denial now adds another layer of uncertainty and intrigue to that situation.

The story could move quickly if Monday’s talks lead to a clear decision. United will be monitoring events closely, especially after the recent reports that placed them firmly in the frame.

Flick has denied telling Balde to leave Barcelona.

More talks are due to take place on Monday.

Previous reports said United had made an offer.

No departure from Barcelona has been confirmed.
