If you have recently moved house, you should update your new address on your driving licence as well. Many people put this off because they assume it requires a visit to the RTO and standing in long queues. However, this is no longer necessary. In many cases, you can apply to change your DL address online using your phone or laptop. You will need to have certain documents ready for this.

**Keep these documents ready beforehand**
Have the necessary documents handy before applying online. These include:

A scanned copy of your current driving license.
Proof of the new address: Aadhaar card, passport, voter ID, ration card, or a valid utility bill.
Proof of identity: PAN card, passport, or voter ID.
A recent, clear photograph.
A digital copy of your signature (signed on a white sheet of paper).
Having these documents ready will make filling out the online form much easier.

**How to change the DL address online?**
You can use the Parivahan Sarathi portal for this.
First, open the Parivahan Sarathi portal in your phone or laptop's browser.
Select the 'DL-related Services' option.
Enter your driving license number and date of birth.
Verify your DL details and proceed with the profile.
Select the appropriate RTO based on your location.

If the facility is available for your case, choose the Aadhaar-based e-KYC option.
Select 'Change of Address in DL' from the list of services.
Carefully enter your new address in the form.
Upload the proof of the new address and the required forms.
Next, upload your photograph and signature.
Pay the fee online.

Save the receipt or acknowledgment generated at the end.
You can use this receipt to track the status of your application.

**What if you have moved to another state?**
If your new address is in a different state, the process might differ slightly. In such cases, you may need an NOC (No Objection Certificate) from your previous RTO. You can apply for an NOC on the Parivahan Sarathi portal by providing details of your previous state and RTO. You will need to enter your DL number and date of birth. Next, select the 'Issue of NOC' option and submit the required information and documents. Once the fee is paid and the verification by the old RTO is complete, the NOC can be issued. Keep a copy of the NOC and the receipt safe after receiving them.

How do I update the address for the new state?
Visit the Parivahan Sarathi portal of the new state and select the service related to your DL. After entering your DL number and date of birth, you will need to provide the NOC number and date issued by the old RTO. Then, upload the new address and proof of address. Submit the NOC obtained from the old RTO and pay the required fee. Following the verification and approval of the application, the new DL can be sent to the new address.

Note: Fees, required documents, and the online process may vary depending on the state or specific case. Be sure to check the information provided on the official portal before applying.
