Two of Barcelona’s summer arrivals enjoyed dream debuts for the Blaugrana on Sunday, as Hansi Flick’s side began the defence of their La Liga title in stunning fashion.
Barca were back in action a short while ago, making the trip to the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero to take on Elche.
By the final whistle, the visitors had cruised to an emphatic 5-0 victory, producing a spectacular display despite being without a natural no.9.
Raphinha was the standout performer on the night, having a direct hand in three goals, while Fermín López also found the net twice to complete a brace.
As mentioned above, though, the most encouraging aspect of Barcelona’s performance was the impact made by the club’s summer recruits.
Karim Adeyemi was handed a place in the starting XI by his fellow German Hansi Flick, and he repaid that faith with an excellent goal late in the first half. Anthony Gordon, meanwhile, came on from the bench and strengthened his case for a starting spot in next week’s XI with two assists.
