‘Awarapan 2’ and ‘Batwara 1947’ arrived in cinemas on August 14 during the Independence Day weekend, but their box office journeys have taken very different turns. While Emraan Hashmi’s romantic action thriller has continued to attract audiences and post strong numbers in its second week, Sunny Deol-led ‘Batwara 1947’ has struggled to gain momentum despite its star cast and high expectations.
Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Batwara 1947’, backed by Aamir Khan and centred on the Partition, received mixed to negative reactions from audiences and critics. ‘Awarapan 2’, on the other hand, has maintained a strong run at the ticket window. Here’s how the two films performed on their 10th day.

'Awarapan 2' Day 10 Box Office Collection
While ‘Batwara 1947’ has been unable to pick up pace, ‘Awarapan 2’ has delivered a contrasting performance. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, the romantic action thriller has found favour with audiences despite receiving mixed reviews.
The film had a strong first week and has now entered its second week with considerable momentum. It has also already become Emraan Hashmi’s highest-grossing film.
‘Awarapan 2’ earned Rs 119.25 crore net in India during its first eight days, while its worldwide gross collection stood at Rs 169.51 crore. On Day 8, the second Friday, it added Rs 5.75 crore.
The film then witnessed a sharp rise on the second Saturday, with collections increasing by 43% to Rs 8.25 crore net.
Sacnilk’s early trends indicate that ‘Awarapan 2’ earned another Rs 8.75 crore in India on Day 10, its second Sunday. This takes the film’s 10-day India net collection to Rs 136.25 crore.
'Awarapan 2' Enters Top 100 Highest-Grossing Hindi Films
The strong Day 10 performance has also pushed ‘Awarapan 2’ into the list of the top 100 highest-grossing Hindi films.
With its collection reaching Rs 136.25 crore net in India, the film has moved ahead of several major titles, including Akshay Kumar’s ‘Rustom’ (Rs 127.49 crore), ‘Airlift’ (Rs 129 crore), ‘Rowdy Rathore’ (Rs 131 crore), ‘Sky Force’ (Rs 134.93 crore) and ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ (Rs 133.6 crore).
The film has also surpassed the collections of ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ (Rs 128.89 crore), ‘Stree’ (Rs 129.67 crore) and ‘Sikandar’ (Rs 129.95 crore).
For now, the box office gap between the two Independence Day releases is striking. While ‘Awarapan 2’ continues to climb the rankings, ‘Batwara 1947’ is facing a difficult theatrical run.

'Batwara 1947' Day 10 Box Office Collection
‘Batwara 1947’ opened with considerable expectations, given Sunny Deol’s presence and Aamir Khan’s association with the project. However, the film failed to turn that attention into strong box office returns.
The film explores one of the darkest chapters in the country’s history and also received praise for the performances of Sunny Deol and Shabana Azmi, along with its human message. At the same time, its old-fashioned treatment and highly dramatic storytelling drew criticism.
After collecting Rs 34.35 crore net in India during its first eight days, the film remained under pressure in its second weekend. On Day 9, the second Saturday, it earned only Rs 1.15 crore.
According to Sacnilk’s early trends, ‘Batwara 1947’ collected Rs 1.30 crore on Day 10, its second Sunday. Its total India net collection after 10 days now stands at Rs 36.80 crore.
'Batwara 1947' Becomes A Loss-Making Venture
With a reported budget of Rs 120 crore, ‘Batwara 1947’ has struggled to make a significant impact at the box office. Even after 10 days, the film has failed to cross the Rs 40-crore mark in India.
Its performance has turned the film into a major disappointment at the box office and a loss-making proposition for its makers.
