Manchester United youngster Jacob Devaney has completed a loan move to Hibernian for the season.

Devaney has been with the club since the age of six and made his Manchester United Under-18 debut when he was only 15.

He went on to captain the Under-21 side before joining St Mirren on loan in January.

Devaney featured 16 times for the Scottish club and scored one goal.

The midfielder has also earned nine caps for the Republic of Ireland Under-19 team during his career.

The Irishman also got on the scoresheet for the senior side in a 5-0 thrashing of Rosenborg in July.

After catching the eye during his loan spell in Scotland last season, Devaney will now have the opportunity to show his quality across the course of a full campaign.

Manchester United’s official X account posted: “Jacob Devaney is set to spend the 2026/27 season on loan at Hibernian. Best of luck in Scotland, Jacob!”

Hibs’ official website said: “Hibernian FC is delighted to announce the signing of Jacob Devaney from Manchester United on a season-long loan, with an option to make the move permanent.”

Head coach David Gray said: “We’re really pleased to bring Jacob to the club. He already has experience of Scottish football and knows the demands of the Premiership, which will be important as he settles into the squad.”

Devaney also spoke about the switch and said: “When I found out that I had the opportunity to come and play for Hibs, it was a no-brainer for me and my family. It was one of the clubs last year where I turned up to the stadium and thought, ‘wow, this is a big club’, so I’m really excited to be here.”

Devaney could get his first minutes as early as this Thursday in the crucial second leg of the Conference League qualifier against Gent, with the tie finely balanced at 0-0 after the first match in Belgium.
