Rahul Gandhi Pune Chhatron Ki Goonj event Manusmriti controversy: At AISSMS College Ground located in Pune, Maharashtra Organized ‘Chhatro Ki Goonj’ Chhatron Ki Goonj During the program, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi made a sharp attack by referring to the Manusmriti on the issue of women’s safety and freedom. He said, the biggest strength of the country is that women become independent, raise voice for themselves and believe in themselves.

Rahul Gandhi mentioned a verse of Manusmriti while talking about the security and rights of women in the program organized in Pune. He said, “It is written in Manusmriti that women are subject to father in childhood, husband in youth and sons after death of husband. According to Manusmriti woman should never be independent.” Rahul Gandhi termed these ideas as shameful and said that women should not be restricted to the role of mother, wife or daughter only.
Women are not limited to mothers, wives or daughters
Rahul Gandhi asserted that, There are many influential and talented women in the country doing great work in different fields. They are professionals, sportsmen and multi-taskers. There is nothing wrong with a woman’s identity as a daughter, wife or mother, but that cannot be her only identity. Women are naturally more sensitive, tender, compassionate and far-sighted than men.
India’s real strength is the dreams of 70 crore women
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi further added that whenever people ask him what is India’s biggest strength, someone names the economy, army or medical system. But according to him the greatest asset and strength of the country is the 70 crore different journeys, imaginations and dreams of Indian women.
