Tata Power has launched the ‘Ghar-Ghar Solar’ campaign in Patna. The company aims to bring rooftop solar power to 500,000 households in Bihar over the next three years, with the process starting at just ₹999.
If you live in Bihar and are troubled by rising electricity bills, this news is important for you. People often hesitate to install rooftop solar panels because they lack the large lump-sum amount required upfront. However, you no longer need to spend a huge amount all at once to get rooftop solar installed. Significantly, Tata Power has launched the ‘Ghar-Ghar Solar’ scheme in Bihar, offering the facility to install solar panels with a down payment of just ₹999.
Under this scheme, domestic consumers will be provided with 100% financing. Additionally, they will have the option of easy EMIs over a period of 60 months. This means that after installation, the cost can be paid off in convenient monthly installments.
How to get rooftop solar installed for ₹999?
Under this Tata Power scheme, you can install rooftop solar systems ranging from 1 kW to 10 kW.
For a 1 kW solar system, the EMI will be approximately ₹932 per month after the subsidy.
This EMI plan extends for 60 months, or 5 years.
The initial down payment required to install the solar system under this scheme is just ₹999.
For a 3 kW solar system, the monthly EMI will be approximately ₹2,907.
This scheme is likely to be particularly beneficial for those who wish to install solar panels without spending a large lump-sum amount upfront.
The government is also offering subsidies on solar panels
Subsidies are also being provided for rooftop solar installations under the Central Government’s ‘PM Surya Ghar Yojana’ to promote the adoption of rooftop solar power. Additionally, assistance is being provided by the Bihar government. However, the subsidy amount may vary depending on the solar system's capacity and applicable regulations.
The estimated cost of a 1 kW solar system ranges from approximately ₹60,000 to ₹75,000.
A subsidy of up to ₹30,000 for a 1 kW system is available from the Central Government.
An additional subsidy may also be provided by the Bihar government.
With the subsidy, your out-of-pocket expense for installing the solar system could be significantly lower than otherwise. However, both the cost and the subsidy amount may increase if a higher-capacity solar system is installed.
Choose the solar capacity based on your household needs
The capacity (in kilowatts) of the rooftop solar system you should install depends on the electrical appliances used in your home. Therefore, it is crucial to first determine your household's monthly electricity consumption.
1 kW: Suitable for powering a few fans, LED bulbs, a TV, and small electronic devices.
2 kW: Beneficial for households that use multiple fans and lights, along with an air cooler and a small water pump.
3 kW: Ideal for households using appliances such as a refrigerator, mixer-grinder, water pump, and an inverter AC (up to 1 ton capacity).
