Liverpool are making very limited progress in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over Ibrahim Mbaye, with the back-to-back UEFA Champions League winners setting an asking price of €70m for the 18-year-old, according to reports. It was also reported this week that the Senegal international winger has agreed personal terms with Andoni Iraola’s Reds.
It is understood that both Mbaye and Bradley Barcola, who is also a Liverpool target, believe their respective transfer sagas have been dragging on for too long. The two wide players are not expected to be included in Luis Enrique’s travelling squad for Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 opener against Rennes.
Talks are said to be moving slowly between Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool for the France international, but they are progressing even more slowly for his Senegalese team-mate. It is further claimed that Mbaye could even look towards another club, with only ten days left in this summer’s transfer window.
Another report states that Liverpool value Mbaye at €50m, which is significantly below Paris Saint-Germain’s €70m valuation. The Reds remain keen on the 18-year-old, but they are not prepared to spend that amount on him. Liverpool have therefore explored other options, including Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh. It is added that Mbaye still wants to join Liverpool but, under the present circumstances, an agreement between the Reds and Paris Saint-Germain appears impossible.
