Galaxy Z Fold 8 vs OPPO Find N6: Which Foldable Has the Better Crease?

Folding smartphones have come a long way, but the display crease issue still persists.

Samsung and OPPO have developed different methods to address the problem, and a fresh comparison between the two from tech leaker Ice Universe looks at the crease on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and OPPO Find N6.

After using both devices for some time, Ice Universe said the Galaxy Z Fold 8 had the advantage, citing its flatter-looking inner display and less noticeable crease.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 vs OPPO Find N6: The Crease Battle

This comparison focuses not on cameras, battery life, or performance. It is the one feature users immediately notice when unfolding a foldable: the crease.

According to Ice Universe’s comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 has a flatter-looking inner display than the OPPO Find N6. The crease appears less prominent in the comparison, and its anti-reflective coating can further reduce the glare that makes the crease more noticeable in bright light.

This is a big step forward for Samsung since the Galaxy Z Fold 8 introduces Samsung’s new Flex Titanium display technology, which uses a titanium-alloy film and titanium base plate to improve crease control. According to Samsung, it also applies titanium layers under the screen.

OPPO’s “Zero-Feel” Approach

OPPO has made the crease one of the main selling points of the Find N6. The company calls it a “Zero-Feel Crease” and says its new hinge and display system significantly reduce the visible and physical effect of folding.

Find N6 features an 8.12-inch inner display and a 6.62-inch cover screen.

Compared with the previous model, OPPO says the redesigned hinge and Auto-Smoothing Flex Glass can reduce long-term crease formation by up to 82%.

The device passed TÜV Rheinland tests for minimized crease performance. In other words, OPPO does not simply try to hide the crease through some visual means. In other words, OPPO is not only trying to make the crease less visible; it is also trying to make it less noticeable when users run a finger across the center of the display.

Samsung Takes a Different Route With the Galaxy Z Fold 8

However, Samsung seems to adopt a more evolutionary approach with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, choosing not to promote the absence of creases but rather to reduce their visibility and enhance the quality of the display itself.

For example, the Fold 8 comes with a 7.6-inch inner display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, while the external screen is 5.5 inches. Samsung also positions the phone as weighing 201 grams, making it the lightest in the Galaxy Z Fold lineup.

The anti-reflective main display is particularly relevant to crease visibility. Reflections can make a foldable’s center line much easier to see, so reducing those reflections can make the crease less noticeable during everyday use.

What the Side-by-Side Comparison Shows

In the source comparison, Ice Universe concludes that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 has the better crease-control solution. The inner screen looks flatter, with less of the pronounced central line traditionally associated with Samsung’s Fold series.

The OPPO Find N6 Still Has an Edge in Tactile Feel

However, that does not mean the OPPO Find N6 has suddenly fallen behind. An independent test by Tom’s Guide found that the Find N6 had a slightly smoother crease to the touch, giving OPPO a slight edge here. On the other hand, the tester found it hard to distinguish either crease when the screens were on.

This difference is important because crease performance depends on more than appearance. Lighting, viewing angle, and whether the display is on can all change how noticeable the fold becomes.

Which One Has the Better Foldable Display?

According to Ice Universe’s comparison, Samsung has definitely moved ahead with the Galaxy Z Fold 8. It seems their crease-control system gives the device a much flatter display and makes it more visually appealing. OPPO, however, remains highly competitive.

The Find N6 remains one of the more aggressive attempts to reduce both the visible and physical feel of a foldable crease. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference. In terms of visual flatness, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 wins, according to the Ice Universe comparison. However, in terms of the feel of the screen under your fingers, the Find N6 still seems better.

The Bigger Picture for Foldable Display

The more interesting takeaway is that both companies are moving toward the same goal: making users forget that they are looking at a folding display.

Samsung’s latest Fold smartphone shows how much the tech has evolved from previous iterations, while OPPO shows how aggressively manufacturers can attack the crease problem. Although neither manufacturer has overcome all the physical restrictions of the flexible display, both have succeeded in reducing the compromise.

Based on the available comparisons, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 appears to have an edge in visual crease control, while the OPPO Find N6 remains competitive in terms of tactile smoothness. Rather than a clear winner, the two phones represent different approaches to solving the same foldable-display problem.
