YouTube is raising the prices of its YouTube Premium plans by around 14% for users in Singapore.
The monthly price for an individual membership is rising to S$15.98 (US$12.58) from S$13.98, while the family plan, which allows up to six people in the same household, will increase to S$31.98 from S$27.98, The Straits Times reported, citing an email YouTube sent to subscribers on Friday.
The higher rates apply to new users who sign up from Aug. 21. Those already subscribed will pay the higher rates from their first billing cycle, which will be at least 30 days from the price increase.
YouTube said in the email that the hike would help it “continue delivering great service and features,” as quoted by Channel News Asia.
“We don’t make these decisions lightly, but this update will allow us to continue to improve Premium and support the creators and artists you watch on YouTube,” it said.
Prices were last raised in September 2024, when the individual plan rose from S$11.98 to S$13.98 and the family plan from S$17.98 to S$27.98.
YouTube Premium, launched in Singapore in November 2019, offers ad-free viewing, background playback and offline downloads, as well as full access to YouTube Music.
