Josh Hazlewood Involved In Heated Incident With Bangladesh Batter

Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood was left visibly incensed on Saturday during the second Test against Bangladesh when a mid-pitch collision with batter Taskin Ahmed denied him a straightforward caught-and-bowled chance.

The dramatics took place during the 28th over of Bangladesh's innings, with the visitors tottering at 38/8. Hazlewood delivered a short ball that Taskin pulled, generating a high top edge that ballooned directly above the pitch.

The On-Field Clash

As Hazlewood locked eyes on the ball and ran forward to take the return catch, Taskin set off from his crease looking for a single. Their paths intersected mid-pitch, resulting in a heavy collision that prevented the pacer from settling underneath the ball as it fell safely to the turf.

Josh Hazlewood immediately appealed to the square-leg umpire, questioning Taskin's line of movement during the catch attempt.

Australian captain Pat Cummins also approached on-field umpire Nitin Menon to seek clarification regarding obstruction rules. Ultimately, the umpires deemed the collision purely accidental, allowing play to continue without penalizing the batter.

Hazlewood’s frustration continued even after the incident involving Taskin Ahmed. Bangladesh’s lower order managed to stay at the crease longer than Australia had anticipated, leaving the fast bowler visibly irritated as the innings continued.

Bangladesh were eventually dismissed for only 64 runs in 34 overs. Mitchell Starc was the standout bowler for Australia, producing a sensational spell of 6/12 from 10 overs to dismantle the opposition batting lineup. Pat Cummins claimed two wickets, while Hazlewood finished with one.
