FIFA Hands Out Bans After Argentina-Spain World Cup Final Clash; Leandro Paredes Gets 10-Game Suspension

FIFA has handed Argentina’s Leandro Paredes a 10-game ban and $90,000 fine following the post-match clash with Spain in the 2026 World Cup final. Nahuel Molina received seven games and $90,000, while Almada, Ayala and Spain’s Gavi were also suspended. The bans apply only to national-team matches.

FIFA has imposed lengthy suspensions on players from Argentina and Spain following the post-match clash that marred the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between the two teams.

Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes has received the most severe punishment, with FIFA handing him a 10-match suspension and a $90,000 fine for his involvement in the confrontation. Teammate Nahuel Molina has been banned for seven matches and fined $90,000.

Argentina's Thiago Almada has been handed a one-match suspension and a $30,000 fine, while assistant coach Roberto Ayala has received a three-match ban and a $30,000 fine.

Spain midfielder Pablo Martín Páez Gavira, popularly known as Gavi, has also been suspended for one national-team match and fined $30,000.
