Smriti Irani attacks Rahul Gandhi: BJP National General Secretary Smriti Irani has targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the protest of JPSC-JSSC candidates. He questioned Rahul Gandhi’s role in the issue of Jharkhand government and candidates’ agitation, calling it ‘politics of choice’.

Smriti Irani questioned that if Rahul Gandhi is not withdrawing his support to the Jharkhand government, is this not politics of choice? He questioned why resignations were not demanded in Punjab and Kerala on similar issues.

‘Why didn’t Rahul Gandhi come forward for discussion?’

Smriti Irani said that when the home minister of the country had publicly said that he was ready for a debate, why did Congress leader Rahul Gandhi not come forward for the debate?

He questioned that if the opportunity for discussion was given, who stayed away from it? He also asked why resignations were not demanded in a similar manner in Punjab and Kerala.

Mentions the performance of Jantar-Mantar

Referring to the protest at Jantar-Mantar, Smriti Irani said that the opposition was divided. He questioned that if there was only a demonstration of students, Rahul Gandhi would have definitely gone there, but why didn’t he?

He also claimed that Aam Aadmi Party leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia were present at the demonstration and did not participate in the demonstration as Rahul Gandhi wanted to distance himself from AAP.

‘Why silence on Jharkhand?’

Smriti Irani questioned the role of Congress and Rahul Gandhi regarding the agitation of JPSC and JSSC candidates. He asked whether Rahul Gandhi had withdrawn support from the Jharkhand government. If not, then why are different states taking different stances on issues?

He also questioned the Congress’ stand on the issue of resignation demands in respect of Punjab, Kerala and Jharkhand.

Also mention of schools in Amethi

Smriti Irani also mentioned the condition of schools in Amethi when Rahul Gandhi was MP. He claimed that at that time some children were studying sitting on the floor.

He said that during the Modi-Yogi government, desks and chairs have been made available for students in schools.

Smriti Irani concluded by saying that the presence of representatives of various political parties at the Jantar-Mantar demonstration shows that the event cannot be termed as just a student demonstration.
