Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha’s (BJYM) state vice president and Bhagat Singh Yuva Sena’s president Sai Ram Yadav, also known as Laddu Yadav, was served a notice by Afzalgunj Police on Friday, August 21, for organising an Independence Day programme without permission.
The programme was held at Begum Bazar Chatri and was attended by actor Sonu Sood.
Afzalgunj Police had taken sou motu cognisance of the matter and registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Laddu Yadav on August 15.
According to the FIR, Afzalgunj Sub-inspector V Narender Reddy had been posted on picket duty at Begum Bazar Chatri in view of the Independence Day celebrations. There, he noticed that Laddu Yadav had started a programme by erecting a stage in front of Jaju Saree Centre beside the main road.
Permission denied over last year’s speech
Authorities had denied permission for the programme, as Laddu Yadav had delivered hate speech last year and conducted a rally through narrow lanes, the FIR states.
Despite the permission being denied, he erected the stage and gathered approximately 1,000–1,500 people for the programme. He also conducted a rally from Begum Bazar Chatri to the Bhagat Singh Statue at Gurudwara, Gowliguda, which caused traffic congestion and inconvenience to the general public.
In view of this, Afzalgunj Police registered a case against Laddu Yadav under Section 126(2) (wrongful restraint) for causing the traffic jam and Section 223 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
After receiving the notice, Yadav made a video in front of the police station saying he would approach the High Court over it.
Yadav also objected to the police taking a sou motu case, saying that no “deshbhakt” had filed a complaint; instead, it was the “Congress’ police”. “I want to know what kind of law the police are being taught by Congress. Rahul Gandhi takes the Constitution everywhere, but Revanth Reddy is filing cases against me for organising a Tiranga rally.”
He called Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar a “true deshbhakt” and asked him “not to listen to his bosses but to follow the law”. “Everybody took out a rally that day, but they only have a problem with Laddu Yadav and Bhagat Singh Yuva Sena,” he said.
