The unseeded Indian pair defeated China's Jia Yi Fan and Zhang Shu Jian 16-21, 21-15, 21-13 in a thrilling match that lasted one hour and nine minutes in the quarterfinals. Despite falling behind in the first game, Trisa and Gayatri made a strong comeback and entered the last four by winning two consecutive games.

India's medal confirmed in women's doubles after 11 years

The importance of this victory of Trisa and Gayatri also increases because India had won the previous women's doubles medal in the World Championship in 2011. Then Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa had won the bronze medal in London.

The record of the Indian team against the Chinese pair before this match was 0-3. The beginning of the match was also not easy for India. Trisa and Gayatri were trailing 1-6 at one point. However, he scored six consecutive points to take the score to 8-9.

The Chinese players maintained a three-point lead till the interval. The Indian pair continued to fight and narrowed the gap to 13-15, but Jia and Zhang took the first game 21-16 after leading 17-14.

Come back in the second game, move towards the decisive match

In the second game too, the Chinese pair made a good start and took a lead of first 5-1 and then 10-7. From here, Trisa and Gayatri changed the pace of their game and continued to perform better, taking the score to 13-10.

The match was very close and at one point the score reached 15-14. After this the Indian players increased the pressure and took a lead of 19-14. Ultimately he won the second game and took the match to the decisive third game.

Defeated China with aggressive play in the third game

In the deciding game, the Indian pair adopted an aggressive approach from the beginning. Trisa and Gayatri took the lead to 11-5 and took three consecutive points to take it to 14-7.

India lost points due to some mistakes in the middle, but the players soon regained their rhythm and made the score 17-9. After this the Indian pair won nine match points.

China's Jia and Zhang saved two match points, but could not stop the Indian players from winning. Ultimately, Trisa and Gayatri won the third game 21-13 and secured their place in the semi-finals.
