New Delhi . After the implementation of E20 blending in petrol, the concern of consumers regarding the mileage of vehicles has increased. Meanwhile, vehicle companies are working rapidly on hybrid technology to improve fuel efficiency. Kia has also given an important place to hybrid vehicles in its future strategy for the Indian market. The company is preparing to introduce many of its local models with hybrid powertrain in the coming years.

According to Kia's plan, key models in India like Sonet and Carens Clavis will be equipped with hybrid technology. The company has indicated that hybrid versions of these two models may arrive in the Indian market by 2029. This may give customers the option to achieve better fuel efficiency compared to petrol engines.

The company has also revealed plans to bring a locally developed B-segment electric SUV to India. Along with this, work is being done to provide hybrid electric vehicle option for locally produced models like Sonet, Carens and Seltos from 2027. This may increase the options of petrol, hybrid and electric technology in Kia's Indian portfolio.

Kia Sonet is considered to be the most affordable SUV of the company in the Indian market. Its next generation is planned to be built on a new platform. According to the report, the second generation Sonet will be developed on the K1 platform. The platform also supports modern electrical and electronics architecture with hybrid powertrains.

One of the highlights of the new platform is its support for technologies like over-the-air updates and remote diagnosis. This will allow the vehicle's software and electronic systems to be updated in a more modern way in the future. Through the new platform, work has also been done to improve the problem to space available in the rear seat.

The technical details of the hybrid version of Sonet have not been fully revealed yet. However, looking at the company's future plans, the emphasis is likely to be on better fuel efficiency. Hybrid systems use an electric motor along with a petrol engine, which can help reduce the vehicle's fuel consumption, especially in the city.

Carens Clavis is also an important part of this strategy of Kia. Options like petrol, turbo petrol, diesel and electric powertrain are available in the current model. The addition of hybrid option in the coming years may give customers another option to choose the powertrain as per their need and budget.
