From 2025 until 2029, Premier League rights are shared by only two broadcasters, with a significant rise in the number of matches shown live on television.

Sky Sports hold the rights to 215 live matches, while TNT Sports and HBO Max have 52 games. The BBC’s Match of the Day keeps the highlights rights.

Until 2029, Sky Sports will be the exclusive broadcaster of the English Football League – the Championship, League One and League Two – with more than 1,000 matches per season shown from the three divisions, including the play-offs.

In the United States, Paramount+ is the EFL rights-holder, offering a large selection of matches from the Championship, League One and League Two. Plans begin at $8.99 a month, which is excellent value considering it also includes Champions League live streams.

In Australia, beIN Sports shows a wide selection of EFL games, and the price is particularly competitive at AU$15.99 a month (£8). However, prices are due to rise by $1 in September.

The Scottish Premiership can be watched across two broadcasters until the current TV agreement expires in 2029.

There are 60 live Premiership matches available on Sky Sports, while Premier Sports shows 20 pre-split games and six post-split games per season. Premier Sports also has coverage of the Scottish Cup.

Selected Scottish Cup matches are also shown on the BBC.

In October 2024, it was announced that Sky Sports and the BBC would share Women’s Super League coverage in the first long-term agreement of its kind for women’s football in England.

Sky has the majority share, broadcasting 163 live matches, while the BBC will show 19.

Although ITV no longer holds rights, the BBC has signed a new agreement as the competition’s free-to-air broadcaster, showing 14 matches – including two live games from each round up to the quarter-finals, one semi-final and the final.

The FA Cup Final is one of 10 events protected for live broadcast on UK terrestrial television under the Ofcom Code on Sports and Other Listed and Designated Events.

In the USA, ESPN provides live streams for every FA Cup game from the third round onwards. Plans start at $12.99 per month.

The League Cup can be watched across Sky Sports platforms: a small number of matches are shown on the Sky Sports Football channel, while the rest are available to stream on Sky Sports+.

A limited number of games are also available free-to-air on ITV, after the broadcaster showed last season’s final alongside Sky.

CBS is the exclusive Champions League rights-holder in the United States, and every single game is streamed live on Paramount+. The Essential package is enough, and it costs $8.99 per month.

TNT Sports holds the rights to both the Europa League and the Conference League, with every match from both competitions available on television and through the HBO Max app.

As with the Champions League, every match from UEFA’s other two competitions – the Europa League and the Conference League – is available on Paramount+ on the Essential plan at $8.99 per month.

The Nations League broadcaster varies depending on which home nation you want to follow.

After Channel 4’s spell covering the England men’s national team, Nations League coverage for the Three Lions returns to ITV Sport this season. The BBC will show matches involving Northern Ireland and Scotland, while S4C will broadcast Wales games.

England women’s national team matches are live and exclusive on ITV Sport, just like the men’s matches.

The French top flight is available through a dedicated Ligue 1 pass for viewers in the United Kingdom, with additional content including highlights packages, programmes on iconic former players, season reviews and the best of Ligue 2.

DAZN shows the Coupe de France.
