Manchester United are firmly in the race to sign Club Brugge full-back Joaquin Seys, according to a recent report from Het Laatste Nieuws. The report states that the Red Devils have made a concrete move to show their interest in bringing in the Belgian youngster during the summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old put together a solid spell of form for the Belgian side last season and delivered a series of impressive performances in the Jupiler Pro League. Seys featured in 55 matches for Club Brugge in the previous campaign, scoring five goals and registering eight assists across all competitions.

The Belgian prospect is regarded as one of the brightest young full-backs in his country at the moment. So, it is hardly surprising that the Red Devils are keen to secure his services in this transfer window.

His present deal with the Belgian club runs until 2029, which means Manchester United would need to table a persuasive offer if they are serious about signing him this month.

BERGAMO, ITALY – FEBRUARY 18: Joaquin Seys of Club Brugge KV carries the ball during the UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Knockout Play-off second leg match between Atalanta BC and Club Brugge KV at Gewiss Stadium on February 18, 2025 in Bergamo, Italy.

Seys is a reliable tackler and reads danger well enough to win back possession for his side inside his own half. He is also willing to clear his lines when needed and is a capable dribbler when moving forward with the ball.

The Belgian talent can also make a difference in the final third by scoring and creating a number of important goals for his team from wide positions. Seys mainly operates as a left-back, though he can also slot in as a left-back when required. However, there are still doubts over whether he would be able to handle the physical demands and relentless intensity of the Premier League if the Red Devils succeed in signing him in this transfer window.

One can expect Seys to add more quality to the Manchester United defence under head coach Michael Carrick. He certainly has the attributes to compete for a regular place in the first team at Old Trafford next season.

At 21, Seys appears to have a very bright future ahead of him, provided he keeps improving year after year. Therefore, he would be an outstanding long-term option for the Mancunian giants to think about.
