New Delhi. During monsoon fever, taking painkillers without doctor's advice can affect your kidneys and cause them to fail forever. Medical experts believe that when the outbreak of dengue, malaria and chikungunya increases during the rainy season, people often take heavy painkillers on their own, which can cause life-threatening conditions within the body.

Why is painkiller dangerous in monsoon fever?
NSAIDs like ibuprofen, diclofenac and naproxen suddenly slow down blood flow to the kidneys, which greatly increases the risk of 'acute kidney injury'. Also, doctors say that platelet count falls rapidly in monsoon fever, especially dengue. In such a situation, taking painkillers can cause internal bleeding in the internal organs of the body. Apart from this, due to the kidney function getting affected, the toxic substances are not able to come out of the body, which can increase the risk of multi-organ failure.
Doctors' strict advice
For fever and body pain, it is advisable to take only paracetamol as prescribed by the doctor. Instead of treating the fever yourself, get yourself tested for CBC and dengue and malaria on the very first day. Also, do not let your body become dehydrated, keep drinking ORS solution, coconut water and boiled water at regular intervals.
