Caste-based discrimination against Dalit BJP MLA : BJP's woman MLA from Malihabad, Lucknow, Jai Devi Kaushal has accused her of caste discrimination during the puja at the temple in Kakori, Lucknow. Jai Devi Kaushal is the wife of former Union Minister Kaushal Kishore. The MLA alleged that when she arrived for the puja at the renovation ceremony of the temple, she was discriminated against and was not even allowed to perform the puja.

According to the information, the temple in Kakori was renovated due to the efforts of MLA Jai Devi Kaushal. Many BJP officials including the MLA and the Mandal President were invited to the renovation ceremony of the temple. Jai Devi Kaushal said, “I had a program and I had given time and tomorrow morning we will do the puja here. But when I went there, all the arrangements were made there. But, I was not made to perform the puja and was not even allowed to perform the aarti.”
The woman MLA further said, “The Mandal President and other members were there with me. When we went, everyone reached there and a Pandit did all the work by placing five bricks. I stood there but he did not do anything to me.” After this alleged discrimination, the BJP MLA said that she will complain to the high command.
