Delhi: Indian cricket team's star wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has made another big achievement in his name in the Galle Test against Sri Lanka. Pant has now become the highest run-scorer for India in the World Test Championship (WTC). He left Shubman Gill behind and made this special record in his name.
Pant batted brilliantly in the second innings of the first Test between Sri Lanka and India being played at the Galle International Stadium. On Tuesday, 18 August, he played a quick inning of 66 runs in 69 balls. During this, Pant hit many brilliant shots in his style and got the necessary runs for the team.
Leaving Gill behind, Pant becomes number-1
Shubman Gill's bat did not do much in both the innings of the test. The Indian captain scored 16 runs in the first innings, while in the second innings he was out after scoring only 8 runs.
Before the Galle Test, Gill was India's highest run-scorer in the WTC. He had 2,867 runs in 72 innings of 41 matches, but even after adding 24 runs in both the innings of the Test against Sri Lanka, he remained behind Pant.
On the other hand, Rishabh Pant scored 39 runs on 62 balls in the first innings of this test. After this, by playing an inning of 66 runs in the second innings, he took his number of WTC runs to 2,885. Now Pant has scored 2,885 runs in 73 innings of 41 WTC matches. That means he has gone 18 runs ahead of Gill.

Joe Root has the most runs in WTC
The record of scoring most runs in the World Test Championship is in the name of England's star batsman Joe Root. Root has so far scored 6,651 runs in 77 WTC matches. Root will now be seen in action in the Test series against Pakistan, which will start from August 19. In this series, Root will try his best to cross the figure of 7,000 runs in WTC.
