Did rainwater get into your phone? Avoid making these 4 mistakes at all costs, or it could get ruined..

The risk of your phone getting wet increases as soon as the rainy season arrives. Water can seep in from a dripping umbrella, a fall on the street, or even from getting wet inside your pocket. Panic often sets in upon contact with water, leading people to take hasty actions that can permanently damage the phone. If water gets into your mobile, avoid the four mistakes listed below; with the right handling, the phone can be saved.
The first and most dangerous mistake is turning the phone on immediately. Many people press the power button to check the screen or see if there are any calls the moment the phone gets wet. You should absolutely not do this.

The combination of water and electricity can cause a short circuit, potentially burning out the motherboard, processor, or battery. If the phone is already on, switch it off immediately and do not attempt to turn it back on. Keep it switched off until the water has dried completely.

The second major mistake is plugging a charger into a wet phone. Many people think charging will fix the phone or allow them to check the battery status. This is extremely harmful. In the presence of water, the electric current can spread and permanently damage internal components; there is also a risk of the battery catching fire. Do not charge a wet phone for at least 24 to 48 hours. Plug in the charger only after it has dried completely and been inspected.

The third mistake is trying to dry the phone using hot air or intense heat. Some people use hair dryers, place the phone near a heater, or leave it out in the sun. Some even put it in a microwave oven. Hot air can push the water deeper inside. Excessive heat accelerates corrosion on the circuit board and can even melt plastic parts. Never expose the phone to direct heat; let it air-dry at normal room temperature.

The fourth common mistake is shaking the phone vigorously or burying it in rice. People often shake the phone rapidly to expel water, but this can actually drive the water into deeper crevices. The method of placing the phone in rice is also very popular, but it is not entirely effective. While rice does absorb moisture, small grains can get stuck in ports or speakers and cause problems later on. It is better to use other methods instead of rice.

These tips will come in handy:
The correct approach is to switch off the phone immediately upon contact with water. Remove the SIM card, memory card, and case. Wipe off any external water with a clean, dry cloth.

Place the phone in an open, airy area. You can use a gentle breeze from a fan, but avoid using hot air.

If a significant amount of water has entered the device, take it to a service center immediately; professionals there can dry and inspect it properly.

During the rainy season, it is safest to keep your phone in a waterproof case or a plastic pouch.

Exercise caution when carrying it in your pocket. If it does get wet, do not panic, and avoid making the mistakes mentioned above.
