'Kept country above party…' On the death anniversary of Atal ji, CM Yogi remembered those historical stories.

Lucknow. On the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, an emotional tribute was paid to him in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. In the program organized at Lok Bhavan, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath offered flowers on the picture placed in front of the statue of Atal ji and remembered his contribution. CM Yogi said in clear words that Atal ji laid such a strong foundation of political coordination, stability and good governance in the country, on which today's capable India stands.

In fact, while speaking at the program organized on the occasion of Atal ji's death anniversary on August 16, the Chief Minister said that the entire life of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was called 'Ajatashatru' in Indian politics, was dedicated to the spirit of 'nation supreme'. His six decades long public life was completely spotless and undisputed, which is an example for today's generation of politicians.

The journey started with Kashmir Satyagraha with Dr. Mukherjee

Referring to the early days of Atal ji, the Chief Minister said that his public life started with the Satyagraha against Article 370 in Kashmir under the leadership of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. After this, from being MP, Foreign Minister, Leader of Opposition, National President of Bharatiya Jana Sangh and BJP to the post of Prime Minister of the country, in whatever responsibility he took, he always kept the country above the party.

Yogi Adityanath laid special emphasis on the fact that Atal ji's thinking was very clear regarding the country's security. Be it the war of 1962, 1965 or 1971, Atal ji played the role of a responsible MP in the Parliament instead of cornering the government or putting it in the dock and stood with the government in the national interest.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee's determination: The saga from Pokhran to Kargil

CM Yogi said that Atal ji was as easy going and simple as he looked by nature and was equally firm in his decisions and intentions. Referring to the Kargil war, he said that when war was imposed on the country, Atal ji had given a strong message to the whole world that India would give a befitting reply to it. The whole world acknowledged his strong determination.

Not only this, Atal ji had also taken the historic step of making India a nuclear power nation by conducting nuclear tests in Pokhran, regardless of international pressures. He proved the real strength and potential of India to the world.

Unbroken relationship with UP and Lucknow

Recalling Atal ji's relations with Uttar Pradesh, the CM said that in 1957, he had reached Parliament for the first time by being elected from Balrampur parliamentary constituency of UP. After this he represented Lucknow in Parliament five times. While being an MP from Lucknow, he set new standards of good governance as the Prime Minister of the country and the leader of the opposition.

In this tribute program held at Lok Bhavan, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister of State for Agriculture Baldev Singh Olakh, MP Brijlal, Legislative Council Member Eng. Many prominent public representatives including Avnish Kumar Singh, Umesh Dwivedi, MLA Neeraj Bora and Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal were present. Everyone paid homage to Atal ji's portrait and reiterated their resolve to follow the path shown by him.
