Yashasvi Jaiswal: The first match of the two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka is being played at the Galle International Stadium from today, August 15. The run out of Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal on the very first day of the match has attracted everyone’s attention. A controversy broke out on the field itself regarding the manner in which Jaiswal was out and the matter quickly became a topic of discussion.

Yashasvi Jaiswal collides with Keshara Nuvantha

On the first day of the Galle Test, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal came out to open the innings for the Indian team along with KL Rahul and a big innings was expected from him. The Indian openers gave a great start to the team. But Jaiswal lost his wicket in the 11th over. Keshara Nuwantha was bowling this over for Sri Lanka. On the last ball of the over, KL Rahul played a drive towards mid-on and an easy single was in sight. But then Nuvantha dived to the right to stop the ball and he collided with Yashasvi Jaiswal standing at the non-striker end.

Yashasvi Jaiswal run out

Due to collision with Nuvantha, Yashasvi Jaiswal lost his balance and fell on the ground. On the other hand, KL Rahul had reached half the distance considering it an easy single. As soon as Rahul saw Jaiswal falling on the ground, he stopped there. Meanwhile, Yashasvi got up and took a step forward, which made Rahul feel that he had to complete the run, due to which he started running again. But the very next moment Jaiswal returned back to his crease. Both the Indian batsmen reached the same end. Rahul had first brought the bat under the crease, while Jaiswal was left behind and was run out.

Niroshan Dickwella did not blow the bells immediately

Meanwhile, Prabhat Jayasuriya threw the ball to wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella. The interesting thing was that Dickwella did not drop the bails immediately. He looked towards captain Dhananjay de Silva standing in the first slip and gestured to ask if the bails should be dropped. On this the captain pointed out what was wrong in this, after which the wicketkeeper blew the stump. The umpires also investigated and gave runout to Jaiswal.
