Arsenal have held discussions with Galatasaray regarding star striker Victor Osimhen.

According to reports, Arsenal are in talks with Galatasaray over a possible deal for striker Victor Osimhen.

The Premier League champions are looking to strengthen their attacking choices in the summer transfer window and have been linked with a number of high-profile names, including Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr, Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez and Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola.

But Arsenal have still not completed a headline signing in that department, and long-time target Osimhen has returned to the frame - although any agreement could prove more complicated than it first seems.

Osimhen has been one of Europe's most productive strikers in recent seasons, scoring 32 goals for Galatasaray while on loan from Napoli in 2024/25, before adding another 22 last term after completing a sensational €75m transfer to the Turkish giants.

The Nigeria striker signed a four-year deal with the Istanbul club 12 months ago, but the prospect of a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer has emerged during talks involving two Arsenal players.

As per The Telegraph, conversations between the Gunners and Galatasaray over Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri have also featured discussions about Osimhen potentially making the switch to North London.

The report says the Super Lig side have already made a £38.4m offer for winger Martinelli and have also shown interest in 19-year-old attacking midfielder Nwaneri, who spent the second half of last season on loan at French club Marseille.

It remains unclear whether Arsenal or Galatasaray first raised the possibility of Osimhen joining the Gunners, while there is no indication yet over whether the Turkish club would demand that one or both of Martinelli and Nwaneri move in the opposite direction as part of any arrangement.

The Gunners have admired the 27-year-old for a long time, but The Telegraph reports that he had slipped behind Atleti star Alvarez on their list of targets for this summer.

However, the same report adds that Arsenal have considered turning their attention elsewhere because of the Spanish club's £100m-plus valuation of the Argentina striker.

So far this summer, the Gunners have signed four first-team players: midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United for £75m, defender Piero Hincapie for £34.5m from Bayer Leverkusen after making last season's loan move permanent, Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis in a £34m transfer, and former Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer.

Osimhen would undoubtedly improve their options in attack, where manager Mikel Arteta currently has Viktor Gyokeres, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus available to him.

The 2023 African Footballer of the Year played a major role in Napoli's Serie A title win in 2022/23 and has also shown his quality as a scorer in the Champions League, netting seven times in 10 matches in last season's competition - including the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Liverpool.
